(Web Desk) - A case has been registered against three people in Hyderabad for organising the screening of ‘Ram ke Naam’ (In the Name of God) documentary at a restaurant on Saturday.

The complaint was filed by a 30-year-old man, P. Ruthvik, who said that he went to Marley’s Joint Bistro Restaurant, located at Defence Colony in Neredmet along with his friends, and saw that the documentary was being screened there.

He said that the content of the film was against Hinduism.

According to the complainant, when he asked about who had screened the documentary, the organisers told him that the event was organised by a film club “Hyderabad Cinephiles,” and the names of the organisers are Anand, Piyush alias Parag, Srija, and others.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief, Asaduddin Owaisi has asked the Rachakonda Police as to why the screening of the film was stopped forcibly by the police.

The AIMIM chief sought answer from the police, on whether people should get a pre-screening certificate from the police before watching a film.

"How is screening an award-winning documentary a crime? If it is, then the Government of India & Filmfare should also be jailed for awarding the film.

Please let us know if we need a pre-screening certificate from the police before watching a film," AIMIM chief wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter).
